The Inside Passage of Alaska has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. This picture was shot from the crow's nest of a cruise ship headed north.

The weather along the western coast of Alaska is often troubled. Here, a shaft of light peeks through after a stormy afternoon.
Our Alaskan Cruise
For my 50th birthday, my wife gave us a week-long cruise to Alaska.
We spent a full week in Seattle and Victoria, B.C., before our ship left from Vancouver Harbor and headed north through the Inside Passage. It was a spectacular trip, one that neither my wife, our friends Vic and Anita nor I will soon forget. We had ideal weather -- very changeable but almost rain free, which is very usual for early summer.
