There are 24 million Internet users in the United States and Canada
2.5 million people have already made purchases using the Internet

And according to ActivMedia:

31% of all commercial web sites are profitable and the figure is expected to rise over the next 12 to 24 months.
Web commerce combined for a total of $436 million in sales in 1995 and by 1998 sales should hit $46 billion
