Give a little piece of your heart and make a friend for life
Welcome Animal Lovers!
Adopting a pet is a wonderful act of kindness.
But, it is also a major, life-long commitment.
Some things to consider before adopting a pet:
Money
- bills for food
- veterinary care (emergencies and check-ups)
- supplies
Residence
- some landlords don't allow tenants to have pets
- those who do may charge a pet deposit and monthly fees
- your roommates' possible allergies
Travel
- kennels can be expensive
- frequent trips without your pet can be unfair to it
- there is a $500 fine for abandoning a pet in Gainesville
Time
- daily attention and affection
- young pets need to be housebroken and trained
- exercise, grooming, feeding and play
It takes a special kind of person to provide a good home for a pet, but if you are dedicated, few things can be as fulfilling. You could make a friend and companion for life.
