Timeline of OceanographyAs with all of science, advances have arisen due to need. Oceanography started, therefore, due to practicality. To get from one place to another on a body of water, one needed the knowledge of what type of vessel to use, how to power it, and how to keep a steady direction. Over time researchers developed different technology and found out more information.
