High-Score Strategies

  • Always try to play on a double or triple word score groove on each turn.
  • Look for letter combinations and words that allow you to put the largest letter value of the word on a double or triple letter word score groove.
  • Use "S" and blank tiles wisely -- if placed at the end of one word, you can begin another word in the other direction, receiving points for both words.
  • Never play all your vowels or all your consonants in one hand. Always have a variety of tiles to work from.
  • Don't underestimate the power of a short word. It will throw other players off if they can't branch from your new word.
