Good Home Cookin'

When you are too tired to make your own breakfast, here are some choices that will leave you wondering why you ever did.

The Fox Restaurant

The Fox is an independent breakfast joint in Jacksonville that cannot be missed. It is decorated as an old diner with the help of children's donated art work and vintage collectables. The food is delicious and at a great price. Omelettes and the two egg breakfast with bacon and grits are my personal picks.

Jeff's New York Deli

With a newly opened second location in Gainesville, Jeff's is the perfect place to stuff yourself. The meals come with eggs, bacon or sausage and homefries. There are no grits at this northern-inspired deli. Also open for lunch.

Bagels Unlimited

The weekend crowd is a tribute to its delicious offerings. True to its name, Bagels Unlimited has any type of bagel or cream cheese you can imagine - even low fat. Breakfast burritos fill up the plate. You will not leave this indie-style restaurant feeling hungry or unsatisfied.

Ivey's

What Ivey's lacks in square footage it gives back in quaint charm and mouth-watering tastes. My pick for breakfast is the cinnamon french toast with bananas.

Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives:

The show visits restaurants like these around the country. Here is one episode highlighting a breakfast joint in Minneapolis, courtesy of youtube.
