Poster for the National Storytelling Festival

The field of storytelling has been growing rapidly for the past 30 years. There are now hundreds of storytelling festivals around the world. In addition to festivals, there are hundreds of storytelling guilds in nearly every state.

The largest and most famous of these hundreds of fesivals is the National Storytelling Festival in Johesborough, Tennessee. This festival began in 1972, and is celebrating its 35th year this year.

Held in historic Jonesborough, the festival has an old world atmosphere. Tellers from all over the world perform for thousands of people each year.
