ate up
The mopey, depressed feeling after the Ecstasy high is over (see: crash).
blowing up
The peak of the Ecstasy high.
Ecstasy
Scientifically named "3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine" or "MDMA." Often called "E," "X," "XTC," or "beans." A synthetic drug used illegally for its energetic and euphoric effects. Produces a high that lasts about six hours. Side effects include dehydration, inability to sleep and teeth grinding.

e-tards
Frequent Ecstasy users or addicts.
raves
All-night dance parties where drugs like Ecstasy were used frequently. Popular in the 1990s and most often held in abandoned warehouses or open fields.
rolling
The time after ingesting Ecstasy and before the crash.
serotonin
The "feel-good chemical" which is released in the brain when the body senses pleasure.
Skittles
A group of multicolored Ecstasy pills. Named after the sweet, chewy candy whose motto is "Taste the Rainbow".
whippets
Inhaling from a pressurized aerosol can -- such as from hair spray, paint thinner or glue -- for its psychoactive effects. Used by some Ecstasy users to intensify the high.
