The internet blew up this week with rumors of a reunion season for one of America's most beloved shows,Friends. The story instantly went viral on social media with people posting links to sites like this one that claimed NBC had confirmed a reunion season for Friends. According to a recent article published by Entertainment Weekly, NBC has denied any reunion season for one of television's most successful shows. This rumor came after another rumor (which was convieniently posted around April Fool's Day) that said NBC was working on a special Thanksgiving episode for Friends in 2014. Those rumors have also been shut down. Co-creater, Marta Kauffman, was quoted as saying, "I’m going to clear this up — it’s not happening." So there you have it, no new season in the works. Let's just hope there is a movie deal in the works soon.
The highly successful teen comedy, Pitch Perfect, is set for a sequel in 2015. The film went above and beyond the call of duty by earning five times what it cost to make the film ($17 million production budget, $65 million in domestic profits, and $113 million worldwide). It has also spawned a relatively successful soundtack that is currently sitting at #30 on the Billboard 200. That's not bad, especially considering that the movie could be labeled as a chick flick. The last movie with a prominent female cast to do well was Bridesmaids, which also featured Rebel Wilson. She might be a good luck charm. Kay Cannon is expected to return as the main writer for the sequel. No details on which characters are set to return. I'm expecting at least Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and maybe Brittany Snow to make a return. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this movie is just as if not more aca-amazing than the first.
