Crescent Beach is in St. Augustine, Florida and it is one of the closest beaches to Gainesville. It is named after it's natural shoreline shape which is a crescent moon. The weather is beautiful, but during the summer it can receive about 13 inches of rain.Crescent is a very family orienated beach and it is unique from most beaches because of the things you are allowed to do on the beach. For instance, since the beach is so wide there are driving lanes that allow you to drive your vehicles on the beach and the huge sand dunes serve as parking posts. It can get crowded sometimes so there are ATV trucks that drive around to regulate things. Crescent Beach is also pet friendly, but you have to make sure you have leash or be issued a citation. If you get tired of running around on the beach or you just can't take the beaming sun anymore there are popular attractions to go to. The Alligator Farm and the historic fort, Castillo De San Marcos are two places that you could visit.
