Where do paleontologist work?

Paleontologists work in many places. Basically wherever they know there is a chance to find fossils.

Fossil localities include deserts, coal mines, caves, tar pits and even your backyard.

Many of the fossils in the prep lab come from the Panama Canal area. Paleontologists in the picture found a fossil marine mammal in this area.

Sometimes, paleontologists make a plaster jacket to protect the fossil and take it to the lab. Then they start the preparation process.
