What is InSpectigate?

InSpectigate is an effort to show people how to search for generally available information about individuals, institutions and other issues or interests on the Internet.

Why is InSpectigate important?

InSpectigate provides tools and direction to help people find available information online. Most people know how to Google things these days, but if a person wanted to get more specific information about an individual, interest or a particular issue, some know how could be quite helpfull.

What can be found online?

Thanks to influence from the media, the public's desire to participate in civic activities, and government policies like the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), there is a wealth of information available online.

Information about a person:

  • Where a person lives
  • If a person owns property
  • If a person has been to court
  • If a person has been to jail

Information about an institution:

  • School/City/State/Federal services, budgets and financial records
  • School/City/State/Federal demographics, populations, crime rates and standards of living

Information about an issue:

  • Healthcare budgets
  • Political campaign finances
  • Public Spending (e.g., salaries for, professors, politicians and law enforcement)

With the access to information the Internet provides, it only takes a little direction and a few clicks on a computer to know more than you ever wanted to about a person, place or thing.

Take some time to look around and if you have any questions, e-mail me.
