Major Roads-
If you want to learn your way around Gaineville in a hurry,
there are a few major roads you need to know.
Archer Road runs east and west. It has a direct exit to
I-75 and a strip with numerous restaurants, hotels and shopping
plazas. Archer dead ends into 13th street.
University Ave. runs east and west along the University of
Florida and downtown Gainesville. This is the road you want if
you are going to the county courthouse, city hall, administrative
buildings or the downtown party district. It also becomes
Newberry Road en route to the Oaks Mall.
13th street is also U.S. Highway 441. It runs north and
south along the administrative buildings of the University of
Florida. Traveling south you will reach state preserve Paine’s
Prarie. If you are headed north, you might come across Sam’s
wholesale warehouse, AAA or the Plaza Theater.
