Why pitch it

  1. Get the hitter to hit the ball to the left side of the field
  2. Runner on second or third base
  3. Hitter is standing too close to the plate and you want to move them back

In this video, Mary Huff, former pitcher for the University of Central Florida, puts all of the pictures together, and demonstrates a screwball. Because it looks as if the ball is going to hit you, as a right handed batter, screwballs are typically one of the most intimidating pitches
