Pitching 101

Riseball

Why pitch it

  1. Gives the defense a ball to catch in the air for an easy out
  2. No runners on base
  3. "Waste pitch"
  4. Closing pitch to strike a hitter out

In this video, Mary Huff, former pitcher for the University of Central Florida, puts all of the pictures together, and demonstrates a riseball. Riseball can be tricky to a hitter who has a habit of dropping their hands.
