From the Experts: What is Fair Trade?

This video is taken from the Fair Trade USA website.

A Little Bit About Fair Trade

Fair trade was designed to create principles that assist in preventing continued poverty. This does not just apply to coffee but a multitude of items sold around the world. Fair trade is marked on products from two different companies: Fairtrade Labeling Organization/Fair Trade USA and the Institute for Marketecology. Fair trade also creates international labor rights preventing forced child labor and trafficking.

Fair trade coffee is even available at local markets. Every Wednesday in downtown Gainesville, MoCup Coffee, sets up a booth at the farmers market. He sells bags of fair trade coffee there as shown in the picture below. Other places in Gainesville also sell free trade coffee already brewed such as CYMplify.
