About: The Reggae Shack opened in 2003 with the slogan "culture so rich you can taste it." It serves Jamaican dishes and Jamaican-inspired vegetarian cuisine.
Review: The food is delicious and offers authentic Jamaican flavor with innovative twists. The "dutty fries" are served with cinnamon sugar and are some of the most delicious fries I have ever tasted. The sandwiches are served with "dutty onions" which are a version of an onion ring that stack almost a foot high on your sandwich.
The smoothies are to die for with a perfect consistency. You should also try any of the deserts with "festivals," a version of a hush puppy with sweet toppings. The atmosphere fits the cuisine, making you feel like you are experiencing Jamaican like culture. The kitchen service also makes you feel like you are on island time. For example, I have never gotten my food in a shorter amount of time than 30 minutes any of the three times I have visited.
Honestly, I think it is worth the wait. Plus, you get great portions matching the price you pay. You may want to share a meal.
