Food & Medical

The average human can survive 3-5 days without water and a week without food depending on the their environment.

Staying hydrated is key to your survival. It's also important that you're drinking clean water. Dirty water can make you sick and slow you down. It would be ideal if you had access to a simple reusable hand-pump filtration system. According to the Center for Disease Control boiling water is the best method for making water safe to drink. Boiling water will kill bacterial, parasitic, and viral causes of diarrhea. Adding a pinch of salt to each quart will improve the taste.

It's of the upmost importance that either you or someone in your group have a well-stocked medical kit.

While the walking dead may have just become the #1 concern, you will certainly encounter other situations detrimental to your health. A simple untreated cut can become an infection that quickly spreads throughout your body. During the Civil War more soldiers died from these types of infections rather than gun-battle. You need to keep your self as healthy as possible to survive.
