What are Freebies?

The simplest way to save money is by taking advantage of free samples, or “freebies.” Companies or stores will often give away free and sample products to attract new customers and keep old ones.

Websites and Blogs

The easiest place to find these is also online. Just like couponing, there are websites and blogs dedicated to finding the free sample opportunities and are updated daily. Most online request forms will require an email address. When available, request email communication with these companies in the future so that they continue to send you offers. I recommend making a seperate e-mail account, and check it every once in a while for freebies, coupons, or other savings*.

But be warned that just because something has the word free attached to it, it doesn’t always mean that what you’re getting is free. When looking at offers, make sure you don’t give away credit card information. If something is offered as a gift with a minimum purchase, ask yourself if you really need what you’re buying to receive the gift. If it isn’t necessary, accept that the gift isn’t truly free.

Don’t forget that “freebies” can also be free items that you get with a combination of coupons. Again, keep an eye out on saving blogs and sites for opportunities to get free items.

If you have the opportunity to get a free sample of any useful product, even if it isn't useful for you, I highly recommend requesting it anyway. First off, samples often come with coupons as well as online offers that you can use in a future purchase. Secondly, even if you don't find use in a product, you could give samples to friends and family. Better yet, you could donate them to the less fortunate. There will always be someone who could benefit from your finds.**
