Fliers

Fliers are the ultimate in grass roots marketing tools. These one sided sheets are an opportunity for you to get as creative as you want to be, both in how you design them and where you decide to leave them. The most important thing to remember, you can't have enough of them! Whether they are hand drawn on white paper or process-color on glossy they will generate calls! The quality of calls are, of course, in direct propration to the quality of the flier and the locations in which you decide to leave them.

What should the fliers say?

You want this sheet to be easy for people to read and digest from as far as ten feet away. Be sure to be clear and catchy with your headline. All the same contact information that you would have on your business card is also a must. The most important thing to remember is that you need a call to action. Your potential customer needs to be told to call, email, or visit your website right away to learn more about how you can help them. You may even want to offer something, like a free gift or discount, for those who mention the flyer when they contact you. Not only will this let you know that your flier is working, but you'll be able to ask where they saw it and figure out which locations are best for future fliers.

Resources for direct mail

If you have a computer and a printer, you have everything you need to create fliers fast and easy. And if you don't have a computer and printer at your disposal....well...you may want to rethink being a business owner! Kidding aside, you can use plain paper and markers to do them by hand.

Many word processing programs like Microsoft Word and Pages from Apple offer some templates you can use to create your fliers with ease.

If this idea still seems to be out of your comfort zone you can always visit your local print shop and they will work with you to create something for free or a nominal charge.
