What to do and what not to do

Things you should DO in an interview:

You should be confident and enthusiastic during your interview. Maintaining good eye contact is also key. Be sure that you do your homework and research beforehand. You should also try to be as specific as possible with your answers. Take a minute to compose yourself and think when answering questions. It is better than rushing into an answer. Daniel Barreto, a UF Career Ambassador, said it is also important to engage the interviewer. You should try to make conversation because it will help them remember you. He also said you should be ready with questions to ask them at the end of the interview.

success Things you should NOT DO in an interview:

You shouldn't slouch, look down, chew gum, or bite on your nails during an interview. You shouldn't show up late or be rude. Barreto said you should not ask about salary because it is not proper business etiquette. He also said you shouldn't focus all of your answers on one experience. For example, you do not want to talk about your internship for every single question. Barreto said you should also try to avoid using any 'ums, likes, or ya knows' when speaking in your interview. And be sure that your phone is put away and on silent.

With these things in mind, you are sure to impress your interviewer. Remember to believe in yourself and your abilities. Show your interviewer why you deserve to be hired for the job.
