Since the creation of stereo sound in 1943, the multitrack recording method has been a pervasive element in studio recording. With musical innovators such as Les Paul, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and engineer Tom Dowd at the helm of the technological revolution, multitrack recording was able to evolve into the expansive dimensions it enjoys today.
