The street newspaper movement.

Street papers are growing in a dying newspaper industry. While huge newspaper conglomerates are shrinking, street papers are starting in different cities.

The International Network of Street Papers is comprised of more than 100 newspapers in about 40 countries. These papers combined have employed more than 200,000 vendors and informed a readershiop of six million.

And these numbers are only papers affiliated with INSP. Countless others exist as well.

The growing number of street press proves the everlasting need for a voice for those in poverty.

One of the largest street papers is The Big Issue (pictured on the left), was created in the UK in 1991. The paper has expanded to countries in Africa and Asia, and celebrities are regularly on the cover.

As the economy continues to suffer, more people face home foreclosures and job losses.

And the need for street press will grow.
