Change Is Good

The bench press works a large number of muscles in yor upper body. From the primary muscles engaged in pushing the bar upwards: Your chest, shoulders and triceps; to the behind-the-scene muscles that stabilize your body throughout the exercise: Your back, forearms and abdominals; the bench press is truly a compound exercise.

What you may not know is that not only will you work all of these muscles to some degree every time you bench press, but that you can also target specific muscles by manipulating how you perform the exercise. Changing up your grip on the bar, angle of execution and even whether you lift a barbell or dumbbells can help you fine tune your muscular aesthetics and keep your workout interesting.
