Do you know what Ammonium laureth sulfate is?

Me neither.

Yet it is one of many unpronounceable ingredients listed on the back of my Stress Relieving Aromatherapy Eucalyptus Body Wash from Bath and Body Works.

I decided to do some investigating when I noticed this catalog of creepy compounds on my body wash. According to the mypure chemical checklist, Ammonium laureth sulfate is commonly used to create the foamy lather in body wash and shampoo. However, this chemical is also manufactured by an industrial process called ethoxylation. While some ethoxylated products may be biodegradable, others products have the potential to be contaminated with cancer causing residues during production.

Needless to say, this product does not relieve my stress.

So I took aromatherapy into my own hands. I have created this website to share how you can create body scrub in your kitchen as a sustainable alternative to commercial products. Click through the links to examine the purposes and hazards associated with chemicals in our cosmetics, as well as the modern history of this chemical presence.
