Let's do a pirouette!

Before you begin, always stretch.

Stretching warms your muscles up and prepares them for exercising. It is important to stretch before and after you do any type of exercise. Stretching helps prevent injuries and strains. Also, make sure you have dance shoes or a good pair of gym shoes so you do not slip when practicing the steps.

If you're not sure how to stretch your muscles, try these for a quick warm-up!

Sit down on the floor and straighten your legs to the side of you. Your legs will look like they are in a V. Lean to one side and try to grab your toes. Hold for about 15 seconds. Repeat this step on the other leg.

While sitting on the floor straighten your legs to the front of you. Stretch forward and try to grab your toes. Hold for 15 seconds. For an added stretch point your toes.

Another great warm up to wake up your muscles is to stand up straight, put your arms straight up over your head and reach towards the sky. This simple stretch will give your whole body a nice long stretch. Keep reaching for 15 seconds.
