One bag of ladyfingers
A pot of strongly brewed coffee
1 1/4 cups of mascarpone cheese*
6 egg yolks
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 3/4 cups of heavy whipping cream
Cocoa powder

*Sometimes, mascarpone cheese can be a bit difficult to to find. If they don't carry it at your local grocery stores, look to see if your city has any Italian specialty stores. If not, there is a substitute that you can use. Just mix together an 8-ounce package of cream cheese, 2 tbsp. of butter and 1/4 cup of heavy cream. Voila, you have mascarpone cheese!

1.) Heat the egg yolks and sugar over low to medium heat in a small saucepan for about 10 minutes. Then, remove from the heat and stir the yolks until they are thick.

2.) Add the mascarpone cheese (or your pseudo mascarpone cheese mixture) to the yolks.

3.) Next, whisk the heavy whipping cream in a separate bowl until you can lift your whisk, and the cream forms a stiff peak on the end of it. Then, add the yolk mixture to the cream.

4.) Next, you need to dip each ladyfinger into the coffee you've prepared, after the coffee has cooled down a bit. Make sure the ladyfinger soaks up the coffee, and then place it in the bottom of a dish or bowl. Continue doing this with ladyfingers until the bottom of the dish is fully covered.

5.) After the bottom is covered, spoon some of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and spread it out so it forms a nice, even layer.

6.) Start the process over again, and layer the coffee soaked ladyfingers on top of the cream.

7.) After you have two layers of ladyfingers and two layers of cream, dust some cocoa powder over the top. It's best to let it harden in the refrigerator for a bit, but if you can't help yourself, go ahead and try a piece!
