Craving Something Sweet?

I know I have a major sweet tooth, and now that I'm away from home and living on my own, I'm guilty of having my own little "guilt stash." Are you like me? If you are then perhaps you'd appreciate getting the basics in baking down for your own "guilt stash." If you've never baked before, don't sweat it! It's not that hard at all; however, baking requires one to be much more precise than cooking. One teaspoon, or tablespoon off, and your cookies, brownies, or cake can go wrong.

Before we commence the baking festivities, let's go over some key terminology:

  • Whip: to beat (eggs, cream, or the like) into a froth with a kitchen utensil. (Thanks for the definition Merriam Webster)
  • Beat: to mix by stirring or using a handheld beater (or electronic mixer)
  • Electronic mixer
  • Crystallize: to coat with sugar; melted and then re-hardened sugar

Now that you know some of the basics, let's bake some delicious treats!
