Types of Sushi


Nigiri, also known as Nigirizushi, is a form of sushi consisting of a mound of rice pressed into a box shape with a topping draped over it.


Makizushi, or simply Maki, is a cylindrical sushi consisting of rice, fish and other ingredients wrapped typically in a piece of nori. It can also be wrapped in soy paper or a thin omelette.


Temaki, or Temakizushi, is an open cone-shaped piece of nori filled with ingredients.


Sashimi, distinct from sushi, consists of sliced raw fish by itself.


Inari, also called Inarizushi, is a pouch of fried tofu filled with sushi rice.
