Tailgating in Popular Culture

Popular culture has embraced tailgating to the point where it is hardly about parking in the same area as other fans.

Gator fans have probably noticed all the corporate and political promotions outside The Swamp called "tailgates." Restaurant chain Chili's set up a booth near The Swamp not long ago and called it "Chili's Tailgate Tour." When the 2008 presidential race was heating up, both Fred Thompson and Bobby Jindal saw it fit to talk about Republican politics in a "tailgate" atmosphere.

Mike Herchel thinks corporate and political tailgates in Gainesville are fine "so long as they involve sports, food and drink, and take place outdoors."
