Skin benefits from green tea

There have been a number of encouraging studies on the skin benefits from green tea.

The National Skin Care Institution suggests that the antioxidants found in green tea could help prevent skin cancer by killing free radicals that can alter DNA.

The Institution also recognizes that amino acids, Vitamins B1, B2 and B3, Vitamins C, E, F, P and U, and several different minerals found in green tea are good for general skin health.

”Over the years there have been various studies demonstrating the benefits to skin from green tea,” said Cathy Weaver, a holistic medicine practitioner from Cooper City, Fla.

Most of the benefits to skin from green tea come from its high levels of antioxidants, she said.

The anti-inflammatory power of antioxidants are likely to slow the sign of age, she said.

Green tea has also been used to treat the redness and inflammation cause by rosacea, a common skin condition that can cause redness or papules on the cheeks, she said.
