Gator Olympic History
- In 2004, University of Florida sent a record number of athletes to the Olympic Games in Athens. About 27 Gators, represented 17 different countries and together they won four gold, two silver and one bronze. Ryan Lochte, Darian Townsend, Heather Mitts and Abby Wambach all took home gold medals in those games.
- The Olympic Games of 1984 in Los Angles proved to be the most successful for the University of Florida to date. Gators took home 20 medals 13 of which were gold. Theresa Andrews (2), Tracy Caulkins (3), Geoff Gaberino, Mike Heath (3) ,Mary Wayte (2), David Larson and Dara Torres all won gold.
- Swimming and Diving has had the most athletes go to the Olympics with Track and Field second.
- There are seven current athletes who competed in the 2004 Olympics. They include J.B. Walsh (Philippines), Nicola Willis (Great Britain), Shaune Fraser (Cayman Islands), Bradley Ally (Barbados),Barlazs Gercsak (Hungary), Omar Pinzon (Colombia) and Roland Rudolf (Hungary).
