In the late 70s to early 80s hip-hop fashion became popular through the creativity of young, black inner-city youth.

Now, hip-hop fashion has left the front stoops of the South Bronx, N.Y., the front porches of several regions throughout the South and Mid-West and moved on a global front. What was once condisered a fad, hip-hop culture, that was known as hip-hop music has caused a movement and wave of creativity affecting all ranges of fashion.
