If a lobbyist does not get his register statement in on time, he is subject to fines. The lobbyist will be fined $50 per report per day for each late day. The fine cannot exceed $5,000. A lobbyist has the opportunity to appeal the late fine. If he can show just cause for why the statement was late, then he can try to repeal the fine.

All monies collected from fines are deposited in the Legislative Lobbyist Registration Trust Fund. This fund helps finance any services the legislature provides for the lobbyists. For example, the monies collected help pay for the officials responsible for processing all the registration statements (Florida Statutes 2000).
