Potter is. What makes him so likeable?

Here is a little background on Harry Potter which can be found in detail in the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone:
Harry Potter is an 11-year-old boy who lives with his horrible relatives The Dursleys on 4 Privet Drive in London, England. Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and Cousin Dudley treat Harry like an imbecile because he is Aunt Petunia's nephew. Harry's mother and father died when he was a baby and he was sent to live with the Dursleys. What Harry doesn't know is that his parents were the famous wizards, Lily and James Potter, who were battling the dark, evil wizard, Lord Voldemort, when they were killed. Harry, who was just a baby at the time, was sent to live with the Dursleys and does not find out his true identity until he is 11.
When Harry is 11, he receives a letter informing him that he will attend the Hogworts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The adventures begin here.
