Problems Identified:
The University Athletic Department recently handled two major crises. These two crises were the death of a student-athlete and a student-athlete being suspected of gambling. In both of these instances, the Sports Information Department in conjunction with the University Athletic Association held press conferences to discuss the situations. They also provided any available information on these occurrences to interested parties.

Key Publics Most Effected or Involved:
The key publics for these two instances included: friends and family, fellow athletes, students, faculty and staff and the media. Friends and family are the most effected because of their close relationship with the athletes. Fellow athletes lost a part of their "family" and possible role models. The students, faculty and staff of the University are short a few classmates, students, and players. The media has to report the stories.
