Alexia Foundation
The Alexia Foundation is "Dedicated to helping professional and student photographers produce photographs that promote world peace and cultural understanding." To win, students must have a strong story proposal. First place winner receives a $9,000 scholarship to study photojournalism at the Syracuse University London Centre and a $1,000 grant to produce the proposed picture story. The second place award is a $6,000 scholarship and a grant of $500.
The National Press Photographers Foundation administers eight scholarships for undergraduates and one scholarship for graduate students annually. The awards range from $500 to $1000. Rules vary by scholarship, but all require a portfolio and some require evidence of financial need.
George Smith Memorial Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship, sponsored by the Virginia News Photographers Association, is awarded to the applicant displaying the most promise in the field of photojournalism. To be eligible, one must be a current student in the state of Virginia, a Virginian attending school out of state, or a former intern at a Virginia newspaper. Other state news photographer associations offer similar awards.

The Santa Fe Workshops offer several scholarships to students, educators and professionals seeking admittance to their workshops.
