|Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards
Founded in 1968, this award known in the press as the poor people's Pulitzers, honors "outstanding reporting on problems of the disadvantaged." Issues covered in the past include child abuse, juvenile crime and discrimination. The photo essay must be published to be judged.
|Leica Medal of Excellence
Manufacturer of the first 35 mm camera, the Leica company awards this most prestigious award "to the photographer who exhibits the highest artistic standard in a single photo or project of up to 10 photos." The pictures must be 35 mm format and are judged from a purely aesthetic perspective. Leica also sponsors the equally prestigious Oskar Barnack Award.
