
A 1998 Time article found that more small businesses are connected to the Internet.
About 61 percent of small businesses are connected to the Internet compared with 15 percent in 1996. Online businesses are making sure their shops are "cozy virtual hangouts" by having contests that keep surfers coming back. Fifty million people by 2000 are projected to be connected
