About the site

This site was created by S. Camille Broadway as the final project for an Electronic Publishing class in the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida.

About me

I am currently a master's student at Florida with a specialization in journalism and anticipate finishing my thesis on Internet credibility by Spring 2001. I will mostly likely conduct an Internet-based experiment for my thesis work. My bachelor's degree is in English literature from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

I have been accepted into the Ph.D. program at Florida and will start on my doctorate as soon as I finish my thesis. My field of concentration for my doctoral program will be in media law. Again I hope to incorporate the Internet as part of my dissertation. After graduation, I would like to teach and research at the college level.

This year I have worked as the Ward Neff Intern for the Society of Professional Journalists. As part of the internship, I compile media-related briefs for a Monday-Friday e-mail sent each morning to SPJ members. Before coming back to graduate school, I spent six and a half years in the newspaper business. I worked as a reporter, editor and a designer for newspapers in North Georgia and East Tennessee. Most of my reporting experience was on the police, court and government beats with a bit of education, business and feature reporting thrown in.
