What Could Go Wrong?
Believe it or not, a whole lot
Indie Style may seem easy enough, but many people struggle with it. There are countless ways to look like a fool when attempting Indie style and I will explain the most threatning and the most common. Remember that this style is supposed to look effortless. A casually greasy, wrinkley thrown together look can be hard for some people to master.
Most Common Mistakes
- Muffin Top: This term refers to what happens when people wear their jeans too tight. The sides and stomach over flow the brim of the pants. It isn't pretty, funny maybe. Wearing skinny jeans and tight t-shirts dont leave room for a thick mid-section. Wear the pants and t-shirts big enough so the waste band does not cut into your skin. Or wear skinny jeans with billowy tops so the waist band of the pants are hidden.
- Greasy hair: The touseled hair style is very popular because of it's realtivly low maintenance. At times this can look sexy, but down right dirty is never a good idea. Be sure that you know when your hair looks dirty. Try asking the opinion of someone you know who will be honest. Messy chic is only good every so often, so dont wear this style every day.
- Biker's Crack: This is exactly what it sounds like. When people bike in low cut and tight fitting pants their butt crack is in danger of being exposed. In order to avoid this terribly embarrassing display, and possible sunburn, tuck your shirt into your pants when you set off. Also wear a belt, but a belt alone won't work.
- Trying to hard: The key to this style is to look like you don't care. I can't say enough that this style should be simple and effortless.
