Over-Achievers
Volunteers find creative ways to stir up interest in OCC.
Spread the Word
- Tell your cashier, your Facebook friends and your buddies at the gym about OCC.
Jump on the Bandwagon
- Family and friends: Have your kids, parents and cousin Sue make a shoe box. Talk to your friends and co-workers about this ingenious service activity.
- Organizations: Make an organized effort in your clubs, teams and peer groups to collect shoe boxes. Make it a challenge. How many shoe boxes can you get together?
- Churches: If your church does not already support OCC, then get your sunday school class, youth group or small group involved. Request announcements to be included in your bulliten. If you're really bold, head up an initiative to involve your entire church. If your church already collects shoe boxes, then set higher goals and spread your shoe box passion.
Volunteer
- Locally: Help at the church and civic level during National Collection Week, the full week before Thanksgiving each year.
- Thinking Bigger: Serve at one of the six Processing Centers across the US. You'll see more shoe boxes than you have seen in your entire life.
- Be Official: Official volunteers are the backbone of OCC. They are selected after an application and interview process. One opportunity is to serve as an Area Coordinator who oversees volunteers in 2-5 counties. These volunteers include Church Relations, Media, Collection Center and Community Relations.
