RESUME

Your resume is your advertisement. Usually, it is what gets you the interview; therefore, you want to have the most put together and impressive resume as possible.

Here are some tips:

Do's
  • Use 12 point Arial or Times New Roman font on professional paper.
  • Talk about specific, measurable results. Don’t just say “Planned a New Member Retreat.” Instead, say “Planned a New Member Retreat that attracted 37 people.”
  • Use numbers as much as possible.
  • It is important to include white space in your resume. Keep it clean, crisp and uncluttered.
  • Tailor your resume to the specific job you are applying for. Sometimes it is necessary to have more than one version of your resume.
  • Have more detail explaining things that are relevant to the job your are applying for. Have two bullet points for important and relevant jobs and one for irrelevant jobs.
Do's
  • Let your resume exceed one page. This rule may be bent if you are applying for a very high-up or important position after you have had many years of experience.
  • Use colored paper. Stick to very light neutral colors.
  • Spray your resume with perfume or cologne.
  • Use font smaller than 11 or larger than 12. Your name and heading may be slightly larger than 12.
