Viva la Salsa, Lessons in Salsa Dancing

A Brief History of Salsa

Salsa in America

The New York Style originated in New York. There are several variances that the New York style has from other styles. First, when salsa came to America, it circulated around many different parts of the country. Because of the large Puerto Rican population in New York, the popularity of the dance grew very rapidly there. Several dance moves from native Puerto Rican dances then became part of the New York style of salsa dancing. This style follows more of the "authentic" dance form than the ballroom dance form.
