Make your own jewelry!



Now, try making your own beaded masterpiece! Donna Hastings explains how with these simple steps. Here's what you will need:

  • A bead tray so you can line up your beads and make sure you have enough to go around your wrist.
  • A piece of wire or string. Softflex is recommended because it is strong and flexible.
  • Beads (Choosing these can be overwhelming, but don't worry. You can always make another one!
  • A clamp to keep your beads from slipping off the wire while you string them.
  • A crimp bead to hold the beads and clasp in place whan your done.
  • A clasp or toggle so you can fasten the bracelet.
  • A crimper tool to pinch the crimp closed around the wire.
  • Wire or Softflex cutters to trim the excess wire.


  • Step 1: Get a tray and select which beads you want to string. Be sure to choose a clasp or toggle as well. It would be hard to fasten a bracelet without one.
  • Step 2: Arrange your beads in whichever pattern you want, but make sure you use enough to go around your entire wrist. The average wrist size is about 7.5 inches, but you will still want to double check that your braelt fits to suit you.
  • Step 3: String your beads on a string or wire. Softflex is the preferred brand of wire at Bead All About It.
  • Step 4: After the beads are strung, thread the end of the wire through the crimp piece and the hole on your clasp on each end. Loop the wire back through the crimp, from the opposite direction, a second time.
  • Step 5: Pinch the crimp closed around the wire using a crimper tool on each end. Make sure that it is squeezed tightly so that the wire doesn't slip through.
  • Step 6:Trim any excess wire using a wire cutter.


Now you have your own piece of handmade, beaded jewelry!
