WHILE IN OFFICE, the president has access to two Boeing 747-200B series aircraft custom designed with all the accoutrements needed to run a country of almost 293 million. (Any air force aircraft the president is flying on is considered Air Force One.)2
The pay isn't bad either. In 2001, the presidential salary increased from $200,000 to $400,000 a year with an additional, non-taxable $50,000 expense allowance. After his time in office, he still gets a hefty 6-digit pension matching the salary of current cabinet members and secret service protection for up to 10 years.5
