The Front of the Book

The front of the magazine, or book, is composed of the table of contents, the letter from the editor, and of course, ads.

This is a sample editor's statement. The editor's statement lists the purpose of the magazine and what the magazine has to offer the reader. Since, this was the first issue of our fake magazine, we had a fairly long editor's letter. No one had read our magazine before, so we had to sell ourselves to everyone who came across this letter.

Other important pages in the front of the book are the staff box and contributing editor pages. Contributing editor pages give small bios on contributing editors and a sneak peek of what is in the rest of the magazine. Another thing, and my personal favorite, is the letters to the editor. This is where readers can write in and either praise or chastise the magazine for its last issue.
