Today, Haiti still remains one of the poorest countries in the Caribbean. In order for the country to rise above the poverty level, the Haitian community must come together and organize their country. It is important to look back at Haiti's history to understand Haiti's future. It is also important to break up and dissect the events that took place in Haiti to figure out how the country became the way it is today. For example, during Duvalier's regime, Haiti's economic problem began because the elite took control of the country. The country's market system is also destroying it by not using the most successful tool to create a working market in the interest of the Haitian population. The lack of human and material resources is keeping the country in poverty. Political development can also be implemented by overthrowing those politicians without Haiti's well being in mind. The tourism industry would be a great way to bring revenue into Haiti but many aspects are preventing tourism from being successful revenue for the country. One of the main reasons for the decrease in tourism is due to the political conflict that have taken place and that is still taking place in the country. If all of these things were accomplished, it would give this beautiful potential country a chance to grow. Since Haiti's independence in 1804, it has not had a chance to show to the world its capability to shine. If all the political aspects were better, it would increase the tourism industry and that would be a source of revenue for this impoverished island.
