Introduction
When people hear of the country, the first thing that comes to mind is that it is the poorest country in the world. Why is this country listed today as one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere with 80 percent of its residents living in poverty? Will this country's poverty level continue to rise? Is there a solution to the problem that is causing many to suffer and remain in these living conditions? We all know that history has played a big role to the structure of this county. Before we can answer these questions and find a solution, lets analyze Haiti's past to understand the direction of Haiti and what it will take to take this country away from its poverty level. The current president of Haiti, Jean Betrand Aristide is implementing ways to improve the Haitian population's way of living.
