Q: What are some examples of how a regular citizen would use public records?
A: There are a couple of purposes. The primary purpose is to oversee and monitor
elected officials to ensure there is no corruption and to ensure our elected officials
operate in our best interest. A strong democracy depends on knowledge. If we don't that,
we aren't following the law. This is a government for the people and by the people.
Q: Should everyone have access to public records?
A: Absolutely, some things should be exempt for issues of security and privacy. Items such as medical records, information about financial records should be monitored but the line can be crossed. The idea for people to have access to public records is of paramount importance.
